I really can’t compartmentalize right now. I hate it.
I really can’t compartmentalize right now. I hate it.
My whole family are apologists. I feel nauseous just thinking about it. I love them but I feel ashamed to be part of that family knowing that fact.
It’s tiring and discouraging to go the work nowadays knowing that they elected people who do not really have the passion to work. They have the passion to deceive and steal.
The consolation that I only get at work is the fact that I am not alone in firmly believing that this calls for a stronger resistance of bad governance and dirty politics. I am not alone of the minority who still fights this kind of government and society. I am one of the 14M.
not at my countrymen actually voting for an ousted dictator’s son. 🙃 i am so confused right now.
dictator’s son became governor, congressman, and senator yet his accomplishment as a supposedly public servant is little to none.
man straight up lied about his educational attainment.
also … political dynasty, ew.
he’s a tax evader too. 👉👈
and, um, he has no concrete platform for the country except to, um, call for ✨unity✨. yes, that’s it.
also this sore loser who had the audacity to run for vice presidency in 2016 LOST then called for a recount. he did that 3x 🙈 dude LOST all the cases and it turned out, the votes for our incumbent VP is actually greater than the first counting.
his privileged ass cannot even imagine riding a plane coach (i, on the other hand, cannot even afford a plane ticket)
guy also never recognized/admitted that there are A LOT of human rights victims during his father’s regime. their family is trying to revise our country’s history by claiming that the ✨martial law era✨ was the Philippines golden age (my mom and dad were pretty much dirt poor at the time). FERDINAND MARCOS SR. WAS IN POWER FOR 20 GODDAMN YEARS. 20 YEARS! THIS DICTATOR DISPLACED THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF IBALOI SO HE COULD ERECT BUST OF HIS FACE 🙃
back to present… now he’s son, who doesn’t have achievements of his own is riding his dead dictator father’s popularity and achievements smeared with blood.
i am so pissed off right now. i just don’t understand why he’s even included in the list of consideration.
This blog is SUPPOSEDLY for my fandom feels but let me just talk about what’s happening in my country, the Philippines.
On May 9, 2022, the Philippines will have its national election. One of the presidential candidates is a man named Ferdinand Marcos Jr., most commonly known as Bongbong Marcos or simply BBM.
This man came from a political dynasty; he lied about his educational attainment; he was supposedly a public servant for more than 20 years yet his accomplishments as a legislator is meager; as a former senator, only ONE of his meager 52 filed bills, was enacted into law (Senate Bill 1186 - postponement of SK election); their bailiwick, Ilocos Norte, remains a 3rd class province; he lived a privileged life out of his family’s ill gotten wealth; he was jobless for six years prior the 2022 national election; according to his wife, he decided to run for presidency after watching the movie Ant-Man; he, together with his running team called UniTeam composed of various political personalities with criminal cases, has no concrete action plan for the country and instead calls for ‘unity’; he is a tax evader and a plunderer; he is barred in the US; his mother, Imelda Marcos, is convicted of 7 counts of graft; lastly, though there is actually more I cannot include here, this man never admitted that there are A LOT of human rights victim during the time of Martial Law—he claims that he didn’t know anything because he was too young even though he was already in his late teens when Martial Law started and is in late 20’s when their family was finally ousted due to the Edsa People Power Revolution.
I cannot stress this enough, but no matter your country, if you have the privilege to choose your leader, please please do not choose someone like BBM. I AM ONE OF THE EDUCATORS IN MY COUNTRY BATTLING MISINFORMATION AND IT IS HARD. Do not make the same mistake as some of my countrymen might do on May 9.
Not sure if I have filipino mutuals but in a sea of misinformed filipinos vying for historical revisionism, let us stand for what is right. Huwag nawa tayong tatanga-tanga sa pagboto sa Mayo nuwebe, mga vebs.
Really sorry if I did not provide some links. I typed this at almost 4 am and I’m soooo tired.
P.S. My english is still bad so thank you for bearing with me. I speak english and filipino + 3 dialects, hiligaynon, romblomanon and bantoanon so yes, it is confusing A LOT OF TIMES.
Today, September 21, marks 49 years after former President and dictator Ferdinand Marcos signed Proclamation 1081, effectively declaring martial law in the Philippines. This began a period of authoritarian rule, marked by the death of press freedom, widespread human rights violations, and plunder.
Despite these transgressions being widely recorded, myths about Martial Law continue to perpetuate, tarnishing the memory of those who have suffered under the period, and distorting the truths about how the country has suffered during this dark regime.
Here, a quick reminder of how bad martial law was during the time.
Under martial law, 70,000 were detained, 34,000 were tortured, and 3,240 were killed by the military and police.
These figures from Amnesty International show that the regime was rife with human rights violations: including 70,000 incarcerations (many of them warrantless due to the writ of habeas corpus being suspended); 34,000 documented tortures; over 3,200 extrajudicial killings; and 77 disappearances.
The UP Institute of Human Rights posted a compilation of quotes from Supreme Court cases related to martial law and the Marcos dictatorship that dealt with many of these violations.
6 out of 10 Filipinos were poor during martial law.
Contrary to revisionists’ claim that the Philippines was in its “golden age” during the time, poverty became more widespread under Marcos. When Marcos took office, 4 out of 10 Filipinos were poor; this number rose to 6 out 10 by the end of his rule, according to the Martial Law Museum.
The country’s debt rose to $28.86 billion.
Again debunking the myth that the country was in its golden economic years under Marcos, the country’s international debt rose from $0.36 billion in 1961 to $28.26 billion in 1986 — a massive burden that Filipinos continue to pay for to this day.
464 media outlets were closed after martial law was declared.
On September 22, 1972, Marcos ordered the military to take over the assets of major media outlets. Six days later, Marcos ordered the Department of National Defense to sequester the facilities of ABS-CBN and ABC.
A total of 464 media outlets were closed after the declaration of martial law, according to the Inquirer archives, including church publications.
We hope this has refreshed your memory. Today is a good day to pick up a book, hear the stories of the victims during this time, and say #NeverAgain.

Due to the mass protests in the Philippines, I cannot post anything about fics rn. Please understand. The future generation, my students’ generation, is at stake
I cannot, for the life of me, think of anything else but sheer terror
I don’t want to live in this country for six years knowing the son of a dictator and a wanted international criminal is about to rule the country
Sending this drive those who wish to know more about Martial Law and why Filipinos don’t want another Marcos in power.
This has over 5000 pages of official documents, books, and news articles, complete with links and readable pdfs from local and international sources.

Going to work has never been this heavy.
We just finished the elections. Partial and unofficial tallies has been reported by various news agencies. But boi, don’t it hurt when the majority chose the people who has been robbing them the good governance that they deserve.
They say the country and the Filipino people deserve better. But when 31M of them chose this path, then let them taste for 6 years. I hope we’re wrong. I hope they prove we’re wrong.
If not, then we’re all doomed. I will forever remember this.
